Ashes Test Day 3….

Ashes series second test match continued today at Adelaide with England surely on top leading by 72 runs and having 8 wickets in hand.

Alastair Cook on 136 and Kevin Petersen on 85 started the day. Although Cook was as solid as yesterday but Petersen was bit airy. For, Australia things were no better than yesterday. Their partnership was growing rather nicely until Harris provided Australia with much needed break through and Cook finally departs after scoring 148 runs.

Meanwhile, Petersen scored his first century since March,2009. After Cook Collingwood joined Petersen and shared another impressive partnership of 101 runs before ‘The man with golden arm’ Watson trapped him in front for his 42. On the other end Petersen continued his “welcome back” innings and reached his 150.

After that Australia enjoyed no more luck and by the end of the day Petersen and Ian Bell managed to increase the English lead to 306 runs.

Petersen scored his second double hundred at very good rate, scoring more than 70 runs per hundred balls and without any doubt was man of the day.

Doherty struggled big time through out this innings giving runs at 5 runs per over and can be named flop of the day.

Rain ruined the last session and play was called off without even a ball was bowled in final session.

England will continue their innings tomorrow with Petersen on 213 and Bell on 41 and leading by 306 runs still having 6 wickets in hand. It seems that weather is going to play a major role in this test match.
