Well, it all started in very much a same way for Aussies except that Watson and Hussey were unable to deliver and tail didn’t wage in the end. Aussies batted for only 43 overs and bundled out for just 97 runs.

Australian wickets started falling from the 4th over when Watson was caught at gully of Tremlett. Ponting and Hughes stayed there for 13 over before Hughes lost his patience throwing away his wicket to Bresnan. Soon after Ponting followed a wide delivery edging one to Swann in slips.

Hussey lost his wicket just at stock of lunch leaving Kangaroos at 58 for 4 at lunch.  After lunch, none of the batsmen was able to even stay on the pitch and Aussies got out before 43 overs, only at 97 runs.

In their  reply, Strauss and Cook were solid at rock. At first they finished the deficit without losing wicket and then, continued their partnership till stumps.

Both scored their half centuries and ended day at 157 for 0. England is leading by 60 runs at stumps of the first day of boxing day test.
